process
We began by immersing ourselves in Detroit Circles' research, covering restorative practices, circle process, emotional psychology, and the City Year brand. We then took each concept and looked for the full arc of storytelling as it related to the student audience. We created engaging, playful illustrations in a shared visual identity that brought the characters and concepts to life. We then wove the elements together using a clean and youthful layout, enhancing the presentations with animated graphic builds, linked quizzes, and embedded video.
outcome
Three Lyons Creative has created six presentation decks, two handouts, and a complex series of activity cards that engage students in an impactful way. The students find the characters relatable and the imagery inviting. Detroit Circles' material is challenging for students but the playful nature of our design helps them to sit with it and apply the research to their lives. In addition, Detroit Circles now has a strong brand identity that ties the materials together and has already garnered recognition from the greater restorative practices community.
