Phantom Cats is the kind of band that can get the perfect take, all together, on the first try. When recording, this opened up many possibilities, like being able to record more traditionally, with no overdubs. This gives the album a cohesion that can get lost in all night sessions of redoing vocals, guitar solos, and the like. This style of recording poses many unique challenges regarding the positioning of instruments, cabs, and mics, as well as monitoring for both the band and the engineer. It made for a very exciting and electric recording session.
On top of all this we planned a videoshoot in parallel, capturing Phantom Cats for an episode of our oneSHOT series. And due to all of the preproduction we had done for the audio recording of their album, we were able to capture a very captivating video, without having to use the tedious syncing and matching technique more often used for music videos.

OUTCOME
In the end, we produced a piece of music that lets the weird, beautiful, complex sound of Phantom Cats shine through. We are proud to have been trusted with their farewell album, and to have been able to make a video displaying their raw talent and visual presence.
