PROCESS
Through a series of interviews with educators, administrators, and a past gifted student who is now a judge, 3LC strove to highlight the importance of giving gifted students in high-poverty school districts just as good a chance of succeeding as students in high-income districts.
OUTCOME
The EE Ford Foundation and The Roeper Institute were blown away by the video. It not only laid out exactly what the program will accomplish in terms of addressing inequity in access to gifted education, but it also humanized these students in a way that really brought home the consequences when not given the proper resources.
“I'm reminded of the reasons why the EE Ford Board was as excited as it was to partner with Roeper on this project. All facets of the program, your good work with your community partners, the need you set forth and the way forward come across clearly and powerfully...That you begin with Qiana Lillard was a great decision. We need more such 'leaders of a rebellious force' who, rather than 'being stopped at any cost' are supported and nurtured through any means available. I'm so proud that EE Ford is able to help Roeper provide such a means for today's Qianas.” —John Gulla, Executive Director for the EE Ford Foundation
