PROCESS
In order to fully comprehend the history and impact, we reached out to current coaches and players, the founders of the program, and young men and women who have spent most of their lives playing baseball and softball in the league. We shot over the course of two weekends at Stoepel Park and Rosedale Park’s Community House in order to capture all ages, from tee-ball to the seniors (16-years-old and above).
OUTCOME
Clearly, in the lives of many of these parents, kids, and coaches, the league has had a remarkable impact. The respect for community, teamwork, and discipline were the biggest takeaways for many of the players. Many parents also expressed their appreciation for the league for its longevity and stability, as there currently is a dearth of such programs for kids in Detroit.
